Tell me about yourself(what makes you you)
I am a wife, mother, grandmother, prim artist, and shampoo dealer. I have been sewing since my mid twenties when my twin daughters were born.I am self-taught but have always had a creative side.
When my children were all grown I began selling at large craft shows on the East coast. A few years ago a former student of mine was killed in a car accident leaving behind her then four-year-old daughter. My husband and I were awarded custody of her and that's when I decided to leave the show world, so I could be more accessible for her. I became acquainted with Monat and became what I jokingly call a ‘shampoo dealer’.
Do you have any other talents? I sew prim whimsy dolls and other items under the business name 2 Chics from the Stix Primitives
How did you start your business? I was volunteer teaching art at a small private school when I decided to start selling the items I was making for extra money around the holidays .
What was your last moment of bliss? Spending the weekend with my three grandchildren. There is nothing better to me than to hear their sweet giggles.
Do you have any secret obsessions? Not sure if it's so much a secret, but I am obsessed with finding quality items for so much less.
Is the first impression people have of you accurate? I would like to think that people see me as genuine, kind, and a little quirky.
If you could meet anyone who would it be? The actor who plays Matthew on the Netflix original Anne with an E. He seems like such a kind soul ( and I dont even know his name)!
What did you dream of becoming as a child? I always wanted to be two things: a teacher and a mother. I am blessed to have been both.
What feature do you get complimented on the most? My smile
What fear have you overcome? I am not a very social person. Being in Monat has brought me out of my shell. I have met the most amazing women and have expanded my " family " while helping others to achieve their goals—whether it be hair, skin, or financial.
When was the last time you sang out loud? I sing all the time ..I mean ALL the time. My grandaughter is always teasing me about how I sing more than I talk!
What thing don't most people know about you? That I am very shy. It is very hard for me to come out of my shell at first..but once I do—I'm talking !
What's your greatest achievement? Overcoming my past—not allowing it to shape the person I am today.
What is the strangest dream you’ve ever had? Not sure if it is strange but I had a recurring dream until I was in my early twenties of being chased by Godzilla!
Have you ever been star-struck? I've always had a little crush on Johnny Depp.
What valuable life lessons have you learned that you can pass on? To live in the moment, and never take life too seriously. Ask yourself is this going to matter in ten years? If not..let it go!
Do you have religious beliefs ? I am a born again Follower of Jesus saved by his redeeming blood !
